This work celebrates the African woman and the elegance, strength, and cultural identity embodied in the traditional gele (headtie).

The gele is more than an accessory. It carries history, ceremony, femininity, pride, and cultural expression. Its sculptural form transforms the head into a kind of crown, reflecting the dignity and presence of the African woman.

The intricate Afro Folk patterns surrounding the figure represent the layers of African heritage and the many stories woven into womanhood. The woman's composed expression speaks to strength, confidence, beauty, and resilience, while the gele becomes a visual symbol of cultural identity passed from one generation to another.
